The poster, Mr. A, shared several photos of what he said happened at a company he knew.
In the document, Mr. A listed the amount of money each employee had to pay on the birthday of the head of the company. Executives such as vice presidents and managing directors receive 70,000 won, managers and deputy managers receive 50,000 won, and managers and below receive 30,000 won.
The document also lists the employees who paid the amount appropriate to their position. There are more than 120 employees in the document, and the total amount pledged is 4.89 million won.

In its notice, the company said, “Department heads who are authorized to approve annual leave are requested to prohibit department members from taking leave before and after the holidays,” adding, “If it is unavoidable due to company business, it is not a violation of the Labor Standards Act to agree to adjust the date of use of annual leave.”
“Taking annual leave before and after the holidays is contrary to dense work,” he added.
Users who read A’s post reacted to it by saying, “The representative is so worldly and cranky,” “This is extortion,” “Are you going to do that for employees’ birthdays?” “Annual leave is the right of the worker, not the consideration of the company or business owner. It’s a company with no concept,” and other reactions criticized the company’s behavior.

In response, a marketing official from the controversial company told the Sunday Shisa, “It was a voluntary action by employees in anticipation of the upcoming retirement of the CEO,” adding, “We also provide gifts and department store gift certificates every month on employees’ birthdays.”
“We would like to inform you that this is a spontaneous idea of our employees and that there was never a directive from the CEO. I would like to reiterate that the exaggerated claims that we are offending our employees are not true.”
