Kim So-yul (26) became the fourth Korean woman to enter UFC, the world’s best mixed martial arts (MMA) organization. In November she will make her debut match against Edouard da Mora (29, Brazil).
UFC Korea’s 21st and 4th female fighter was born. Soyul Kim will make her UFC women’s strawweight (52.2kg) debut against ‘Ronda’ Mora at ‘UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs Almeida’ to be held on November 5th (Korean time) at the Virapuera Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil. .
Kim So-yul became the fourth person to work in the UFC women’s division, following Ham Seo-hee (36), Kim Ji-yeon (33), and Jeon Chan-mi (26). She is currently the only Korean female UFC fighter. Kim So-yul said, “I still can’t believe it. “I think it won’t be until fight day that she’ll really feel like she’s in the UFC,” she said.안전놀이터
Her recent strong results have served as a stepping stone to her advancement to the UFC. Kim So-yul has garnered a lot of attention since October 2018, when she ran a seven-game winning streak. In 2021, she competed for Double G FC. She was crowned the Women’s Strawweight Champion, and she has five wins under the ONE Championship (ONE) umbrella. Her career record is 8 wins and 1 loss.
She is a tough kick boxer, so much so that she is nicknamed ‘Bulldozer’, but recently, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) has gained popularity. All of her last four fights have been submission wins. Kim So-yul said, “Because I fight with striking, I think I have more opportunities for submissions than professional grappling fighters,” and she explained, “If I had only fought with jiu-jitsu or kickboxing, such opportunities would not have come.”
Her opponent, Mora, is an aggressive grappler reminiscent of former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (36, USA). Last August, she won by submission in the first round over Zanaia Silva (31, Brazil) at Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) and signed with UFC. He boasts a record of 9 wins and undefeated.
Kim So-yul said about her opponent Mora, “He has a Muay Thai style when it comes to striking, and he fights passionately without even using jiu-jitsu or wrestling. “I think he will actively come in,” he predicted. He then strengthened his resolve, saying, “I plan to fight and not back down from any part, paying attention to both striking and grappling.”
Lastly, Kim So-yul said, “I’m still dazed. I am a player who makes people look forward to the next one. “As I have enough preparation time, I will definitely give a match that will make people look forward to it,” he said of his UFC bid.
