Chungnam Asan breaks losing streak, now goes on winning streak

After escaping back-to-back defeats, Chungnam Asan FC will look to extend their winning streak with a victory over Busan I-Park.

Chungnam Asan will host Busan in the 15th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 on Sunday (28th) at 4pm at Gudok Stadium.

Chungnam Asan have managed to end their losing streak. After failing to pick up a point during their three-game losing streak, the team put in a fighting performance and turned things around with a 1-0 win against Cheonan City.

They face Busan at Gudok Stadium this weekend. Busan are currently fourth in the table with 23 points after 14 rounds. With just three points separating them from first-placed Gimpo FC, they can leapfrog into the top spot at any time. Pesin and Lamas have four goals apiece, while Kim Chan, who scored two goals against Gyeongnam FC last time out, has emerged as a target to watch out for.

Chungnam Asan will go into the match with a 메이저놀이터must-win mentality. They will look to continue their momentum and challenge for back-to-back wins. The key player is Kang Min-kyu. He joined Chungnam Asan in the 2022 season and has been the lifeblood of the team’s offence, scoring the team’s first goal of the season every year. This is reflected in his record. In the April matches of the K League 2, Kang ranked third in sprint distance (3448 metres) and fourth in number of sprints (162), which are among the best in the entire league. He is also in excellent form, having played a crucial role in the final goal against Cheonan, which gave the team three points, although it was recorded as an own goal by the opposing defence.

Goalkeeper Park Han-geun has also been in good form. He started the last match against Cheonan and made a number of saves to keep his side in the game. Together with the defence, it will be interesting to see if they can keep a clean sheet against the Busan attack.

Looking ahead to the game against Busan, Park Dong-hyuk said, “First of all, I think we got over the hump with the victory over Cheonan Safety. We had a good rest and preparation for the game against Busan. We want to take advantage of the atmosphere and bring home three points, and we will reward the fans who will come to the away game with good content and results.”

To find out if Chungnam Asan, who snapped their losing streak and laid the foundation for a turnaround, can continue their winning streak against Busan, watch the match live on IB SPORTS and Coupang Play on Sunday 28th at 4pm.
